THE ROMMAN PROJECT

Students of architecture from An-Najah university, Nablus and Leipzig University of Applied Sciences, supported by the German-Palestinian NGO NIJMAH* and DAAD designed a group of different sustainable houses in the midst of olive groves, to host artist in residence programs and projects for traumatized youth in the amazing nature around Kofor Romman.

According to an ancient Australian culture, the Whadyuk Njungar, this is the way of how to make a project successful: You work in a circle on its four equal phases:
Dreaming – Planning – Executing – Celebrating.

FIRST CHAPTER – DREAMING PHASE

Abed showed Dagmar his native village in the beautiful, calm mountains of Palestine: Kofor Romman. „I have a dream“ he said. “It starts with 10 little, simple houses in the midst of these olive groves, and the restoration of traditional Palestinian houses, offering space for artist in residence programs and projects for traumatized youth to work and recover in this amazing nature.” „And our Palestinian-German association, NIJMAH* - a joint adventure, is supporting Palestinians to realize their dreams. This fits!“, Dagmar answered.

SECOND CHAPTER – PLANNING PHASE

Some weeks later, a cooperation between An-Najah University, Nablus, Palestine and Leipzig University of Applied Sciences, Leipzig, Germany, was established. Professors and students on both sides started working on the design of this little campus. DAAD generously sponsored travel costs, permitting the students to work very closely together in Palestine and Germany to get a deeper insight into the different countries, their cultures, daily lives and to become good friends. Today you are heartily invited to have a look at the making of process and the final result.

THIRD CHAPTER – REALIZING PHASE

Now this chapter has to be written by all current and future project members, by generous sponsors and supporters, by the students of both universities together with the local workers and specialists on site, and last but nor least by the future users.
And when the dream will have come true - inshallah soon! - we all together will write the

FOURTH CHAPTER – THE CELEBRATION
